Mattarella: "Solidarity is oxygen for society against loneliness"

The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella opened, at the Quirinale, the ceremony for the awarding of the honors 'Al merito della Repubblica italiana' to citizens who have distinguished themselves for acts of heroism and civil commitment. "Not heroes" explained President Mattarella, addressing the awardees, but people who "live their daily lives with a sense of community and of caring for those in difficulty and who are weaker". "Your actions", added the Head of State, "make society more welcoming" and "are oxygen for society and common life".
Your behaviors are the denial of solitude," the president continued, "which is a very high danger because we are inundated with images, information flows and apparent relationships and it is possible for someone to feel disoriented and alone."
02:44"You have chosen between indifference and commitment to those in difficulty. This makes life better for society and you are a wealth", concluded Mattarella, "the message of these behaviors is important and it is important to communicate it and transmit it to young people".
